Collins to sparkle at Dubai International Jewellery Week

Swiss designer Orianne Collins will be launching her OC Collection at Dubai International Jewellery Week 2009 (DIJW) at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre between 4 - 7 November 2009.

This is her first jewellery line in the Middle East.

Collins will present the OC TALES Collection in white diamonds comprising of earrings, rings, necklaces and bracelets, especially for the occasion. She will also launch a new ring, the OC Wonders Gracious Spirit, in white diamonds.

"I'm really looking forward to the regional launch of the Collection in Dubai," she said. "Dubai is renowned for attracting those with discerning tastes and I'm sure they'll like my new designs."

Collins has quickly left her mark since breaking into the industry three years ago, specialising in personalised high-end jewellery designs. This year she launched the OC Romance collection and opened the first sales outlet in the Prestige Watch boutique at the Grand Hôtel Kempinski in Geneva.

She started out with a theme close to her heart, the Little Dreams Foundation, and her 'Charms' bracelet, made in collaboration with the Van Cleef & Arpels firm, featured the Foundation's 11 world's motif.

In addition, Dubai International Jewellery Week will welcome the launch by Bayco Jewellery, whose designs are often influenced by Indian Maharajas and a new range of creative timepieces from Swiss manufacturer Vogard.

Dubai International Jewellery Week will also be the venue for announcing the winners of the first-ever Jewellery Design Competition at the show. Famous for her Bil Arabi jewellery line as well as her photography, Dubai-based Lebanese designer Nadine Kanso is just one member of the distinguished panel of judges which also includes Shaikha Fatima Al Qassimi and other leading industry figures.

Various workshops and educational activities taking place throughout the week will also provide exciting opportunities for industry professionals and consumers.

Designer Mandi Kingsbury, a New Zealand native who splits her time between her home country and Dubai, will also be hosting a Jewellery-Making Workshop in support of multiple sclerosis (MS) Charity, ProtestMS.

Dubai International Jewellery Week takes place from 4 - 7 November 2009 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The show runs from 4pm to 10pm from 4 - 6 November and from 4pm to 11pm on Saturday 7 November 2009. Dubai International Jewellery Week is supported by Dubai Diamond Exchange, Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group and the World Gold Council.
