Batelco announces 'Move and Batelco Moves with you'

As part of its ongoing commitment to enhance services for customers, Batelco, the Kingdom's leading telecommunications company, introduced its 'Number Flexibility service' for fixed line customers last October and is now introducing the same service for ISDN lines.

With this new service, ISDN Business or Residential subscribers can retain their phone numbers when they move to a new location within the same domain.

Bahrain has been divided into two main domains within which customers can retain their numbers when they move. However, when moving from one domain to another they would be required to change their number. Moreover, customers can chose from a wider range of available numbers to change their existing number to a 'nice' number.

Previously, Batelco's landlines were divided geographically in restricted domains, depending on the area. For example, Hamad Town phone lines operated within a different domain from East Riffa. Now, with Batelco's 'Number Flexibility' service, Bahrain will be divided into just two main domains, giving customers the freedom to transfer their number across a wider geographical area than before. Customers who are considering moving locations are advised to contact Batelco's retail shops or their account managers to confirm that the move is within the same domain in order to retain the same number.

"Businesses with widely recognized numbers or households with distinguished numbers can relocate within their expanded domain, and take their number with them,"

said Batelco Group General Manager Media & Government Relations Ahmed Al Janahi.

"As long as the move is within the same domain, which can be checked and confirmed through our retail shops or designated business account managers, they can retain their numbers and avoid the inconvenience of updating their contact information."

Additionally, current and new customers can visit any Batelco Retail Shop and select a new number from the range available, including any available 'nice' numbers which belong to their relevant domain area.

This flexibility has become a reality thanks to Batelco's NGN (Next Generation Network), the Company's BD22 million project to upgrade the Kingdom's telecoms infrastructure, that was completed earlier this year. Batelco is now rolling out a number of enhancements with many more to come in the future.
