Abu Dhabi Film Commission a member at the Association of Film Commissioners International

Abu Dhabi Film Commission (ADFC) Director David Shepheard was named to the board of directors of the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI). Shepheard was one of eight members from film commissions worldwide asked to serve two terms starting in 2010.

Earlier, Abu Dhabi Film Commission - an initiative by ADACH- was accepted as a member of the AFCI and recognized internationally as a film commission.

ADFC management will travel to Universal Studios to participate in the AFCI Cineposium International Conference, 31st October to 3rd November.

"The AFCI Board of Directors is a highly active and motivated group of film commission professionals with an exceptional commitment and dedication to providing the best possible services to the membership, and to the media production industry,"


said AFCI Board President Mary Nelson.

"We are proud that Abu Dhabi Film Commission is recognized internationally and this is another step towards building the film industry in Abu Dhabi and congratulate David on his election to the board of an important association like the AFCI." Said Eissa Al Mazrouei, Director Special Projects at ADACH.

The Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) is the global professional organization whose members are film commissioners that assist film, television and video production throughout the world. It is a non-profit educational association whose network of members serves as city, county, state, regional, provincial or national film commissioners for their respective governmental jurisdictions.

Abu Dhabi Film Commission is an initiative launched by Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage in January 2009 with an objective of assisting the development of the Film and TV industry in Abu Dhabi, nurturing of new talent and contributing to the promotion of Arab culture through film.

The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) is the institution in charge of conserving and promoting the heritage and culture of Abu Dhabi. Established in October 2005 as an authority of the Government of Abu Dhabi, it is administered by a board of directors chaired by H. E. Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan.

The creation of ADACH was a direct result of the implementation of the Abu Dhabi Cultural Heritage Management Strategy, a 5-year strategy prepared by a UNESCO-led team working closely with local experts. The Strategy identified the principal issues affecting the development of Abu Dhabi's culture and heritage and laid down goals for its activities.
