Qtel supports the inaugural Doha Tribeca Film Festival
- Qatar: Monday, November 02 - 2009 at 12:13
- PRESS RELEASE
This weekend, thousands of people across Qatar have had the chance to see an exciting range of new films and cinematic classics, when the inaugural Doha Tribeca Film Festival (DTFF) opened in Qatar.
More than 30 films have been showed at venues across the country, including a number of regional and world premiers.
As part of its support for the event as signature partner, Qtel has offered full support for the Festival, and has even offered a dedicated channel on its Mozaic TV+ service, to ensure that people can follow the action and capture the glamour of the historic event.
The Doha Tribeca Film Festival Channel is available on Channel 4 for all Mozaic TV+ customers, and is available for free. It includes a wide range of programming, including reports from the red carpet, interviews with leading film-makers and short films created by local film-makers.
The channel will even screen a full report from the glamorous closing awards ceremony, which will feature celebrities such as Robert De Niro, and the outdoor screening at the Museum of Islamic Art.
Mozaic TV+ offers a huge range of digital channels, along with broadband internet and landline phone service, all delivered through a single line.
The Mozaic TV+ channel has proven to be extremely popular throughout the Festival, particularly since it offers the chance for people to catch-up with events and screenings they might have missed. In particular, the channel is re-showing behind the scenes footage of the opening night screening of Amelia and the red carpet Middle Eastern premier of Cairo Time, which have been among the highlights of the event.
As Qatar strives to produce a wider range of original content, including films and television, Qtel is actively working with some of the leading providers to ensure that the material can reach the widest audience possible. With the success of the Doha Tribeca Film Festival channel, Qtel is looking for ways to provide further support for major public arts and entertainment events in Qatar.
DTFF, a partnership between Tribeca Enterprises and Qatar Museums Authority, runs until November 1, 2009.
