Connect 2009 was a successful event, acting as a common platform, linking Westcon's vendors and resellers and vice versa. The event divided into four technology days; security, convergence, networking and mobility, and saw hundreds of resellers across all the four days.
Vendor partners participating in the event include ADCKrone, Avaya, Avocent, Cisco, Clearswift, Corning, CPI, Dascom, Extreme, IDEAL, Lifesize, Motorola, Navtec, Proofpoint, Proxim, RCG and SonicWall.
Key Presentations were made by prominent Westcon vendor partners including Motorola, Extreme, Avaya, Cisco Sonicwall, Proxim, Lifesize, CPI and Avocent. The presentation sessions were very well received by over 125 unique resellers who attended the presentation sessions at the event.
Through Connect 2009, Westcon saw number of resellers interested in forming an alliance with them across different vendors and product lines. Steve Lockie, Group Managing Director, Westcon Middle East, said:
"Connect was a very successful B2B event, connecting vendors to their resellers. The event saw resellers across different days. Through Connect, we have seen greater reseller interest in extending their interaction with the group across different vendors and product lines. Resellers have also responded positively to several Group training and loyalty programs, and we hope to see greater interaction from them post-Gitex."

As a testament to Westcon's strong global reputation, Westcon Middle East Group - consisting of WestconME (formerly Online Distribution) and Comstor Middle East won the ITP Channel Award for the Best Growth Initiative by a Distributor in March 2009. The award was made in recognition of the development and roll out of Westcon's Six Step Selling model that to date has been pivotal to Comstor's growth and now embedded in the go to market model of WestconME.
