  • United Arab Emirates: Monday, November 02 - 2009 at 15:03
  • PRESS RELEASE

InRetail, the biggest shopfitting and design show in The Middle East, is set to take place from 14-17 November at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Showcasing exceptional design, fit-out and operational management of shopping malls, retail outlets and supermarkets, InRetail will provide support for Dubai's growing retail market by bringing together key local and international retail trade buyers and specifiers.

Dubai is now firmly established as a leading international shopping destination and, despite the economic downturn, the retail sector here has continued to experience rapid growth. Retail activities contribute almost 50% of Dubai's GDP, with the total value of the market in 2009 expected to be some $7.6bn. Further growth is predicted, with 1,878 ongoing retail projects, worth some $1.6bn, planned in the GCC this year alone.

Recognising that modern retailing is about much more than just shelving, InRetail will feature exhibitors from across the world who will offer added-value features. Exhibitors include shopfitting companies, lighting specialists, retail designers, mannequin manufacturers, display experts and high-tech point-of-sale providers. For the first time ever, InRetail will be co-located with INDEX, thus ensuring tens of thousands of trade visitors.

Exhibitors from across the world will be at InRetail, including: Baero, Otto Kind and J.D. Geck, three leading German shopfitting companies who are coming together for the first time in a joint marketing venture; Elpro Lichttechnik GmbH who will present lighting solutions and offer light planning advice; Oechsle, a leading company for Point-of-Sale solutions, who will be launching new light dividers; and SMS Innenausbau, the innovative German shopfitter, who will present new and inspiring materials for innovative product presentation.

As part of the INDEX Design Talks series, InRetail will be hosting a seminar on 'Adapting a quintessentially English brand to flourish in the Middle Eastern Market - a Waitrose Case Study, from design concept to completion'. Led by Johannes C.F. Holtzhausen, CEO, Waitrose MENA, and Michael Kent, Founding Partner, Kinnersley Kent Design, who were responsible for designing Waitrose stores, the talk will focus on the seamless teamwork between client and designer behind the creation of the first Waitrose outside the UK.

Speaking about InRetail, Show Director Lu Buchanan, said:

"The retail sector in the UAE remains a growth area, and Dubai is recognised as a world-leading shopping destination. InRetail will bring together international exhibitors from across the retail sector, and showcase the most cutting edge ideas and products. It will also provide fabulous insight into how Waitrose set up in the region, and how the client and designer worked together to ensure that the brand was launched successfully in the Middle East."

"The fact that InRetail is combined with INDEX this year provides people with even more opportunities to see fabulous interior design ideas, and we are confident that it will be a great event for anyone involved in the retail business," he added.
