Nine Dubai Municipality departments obtain ISO certificates

Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said the Municipality is one of the leading departments in the government of Dubai which has always sought to achieve the best results and highest levels in all areas as it pursues a policy of well planned steps and works as a team to reach the best practices.

He was speaking while receiving certificates for quality systems in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 international standard for 9 organizational units in the Municipality in the presence of Mr. Torger Baardseth Regional Director, Middle East and Vice President of the Norway-based Det Norske Veritas (DNV), the international ISO certification body.

The ISO certificates were received by AbdulMajeed Sifai, Director of Sewage Network Department, Taleb Julfar, Director of Drainage and Irrigation Department, Ibrahim Yaqoub, Director of Contracts and Purchasing Department, Ahmed Al Shuhhi, Director of Pratnership Department, Khalid Mohammed Sharif, Director of Food Control Department, Juma Al Fuqae, Director of General Maintenance Department, Zuhoor Al Sabbagh, Director of Public Health Services Department, Mohammed Mahmood Mashroom, Director of Survey Department and the Director General's office. Members of the working groups of all departments were also present on the occasion.

Lootah thanked the departments for their efforts to obtain such certificates, which enhance the quality of services provided, and ensures that the systems in the civic body are corresponding to international standards.

Lootah congratulated all employees on this achievement and encouraged them to continue the effort towards achieving better results in the workplace, which will contribute to accomplishing the vision of the Municipality in creating an excellent city that provides the essence of success and comfort of living.

The Municipality obtained these certificates based on a clear action plan laid down by the Corporate Excellence Department for all departments of the Municipality to obtain these certificates of quality and excellence awards. Dubai Municipality is one of the leading government departments to keep up with new specifications and requirements of the ISO 9001:2008.

This is the third honour the Municipality is receiving in this category as in November 2008 seven departments obtained ISO 9001-2000 certificates in the presence of Henrik Madsen, CEO of DNV. The honoured departments included Internal Audit, Legal Affairs, General Projects, Corporate Marketing and Relations, Transportation, Planning and the Children's City.

Six other departments in the Municipality received ISO 9001-2000 earlier, which include the departments of Municipal Centres, Human Resources, Public Parks and Horticulture, Sewage Treatment Plant, GIS, and Corporate Excellence.
