Abu Dhabi Education Council launches phase II of School Leadership Program.
Orientation sessions for vice-principals from schools in Abu Dhabi, Al Gharbia and Al Ain have been scheduled to take place over the week.
HE Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al-Khaili, the Director General of ADEC, said that the program is part of ADEC's 10-Year Strategic Plan to develop the education sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

HE Dr. Al-Khaili said:

"Improving the capabilities and performance of school leadership is an important component of our plan. We believe it is important to invest in school administration and staff through continuous training programs so that schools can deliver the highest quality of education. In order to this we first need to assess the qualifications and capabilities of current school leaders, so that the appropriate training programs can be developed and implemented."

Phase II of ADEC's School Leadership Program will follow three main steps: to develop a profile of each vice-principal, recommend professional development programs based on the results of these profiles, and to develop and deliver the required programs, Director of ADEZ HE Mr. Mohammad Salem Al-Dhaheri explained.

"Interviews will be conducted with each vice-principal to ensure that we are getting a comprehensive profile of our current school leadership. All of ADEC's initiatives follow a strategic process and are based on informed decisions," he said.

Dr. Pauline Greaves, Head of Professional Development at ADEC, said that this program is essential for all vice-principals and she encouraged them to actively participate in the various stages.

Phase I of the School Leadership Program was successfully launched in October 2008, and involved the training and development of school principals.
