The delegation attended a reception held by the Qatar British Business Forum, where they met with a broad range of local Qatari companies, as well as government officials. They were also present at an evening hosted by the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce in Saudi Arabia. The companies also independently met with local companies in their relevant fields in order to further relationships or forge new ones.
Lee Jennings, Vice President of IBW Middle East, said:
"We are very pleased with the results that have come out of the trade missions and the feedback that we have had from delegates has been very positive. Some companies have been negotiating deals with the region for some time and were secured on the mission; others were new to the market and will investigate further."
A notable initiative which took place on the mission was a presentation on how to define a risk strategy by Mike Ward of Outperform, an accredited management consultancy, at the Institute of Risk Management, Qatar.
In addition, trade delegate Micro Materials forged an exclusive partnership with a distribution company and also received an excellent reaction to technology presented at local Universities, while Welsh company Digital Service Research discussed a potential joint venture with Al Manar in Qatar.
"Since 2004 IBW has successfully assisted over 500 companies with trading activities in the Middle East and Saudi Arabia and Qatar continue to have important trading partner potential for not just exports, but investments. Wales has an excellent climate for inward investment from the Middle East and so these trade missions offer a great opportunity to promote bi lateral trade relations," Lee added.
IBW facilitates a variety of trade missions in the region and will be travelling to Libya in March in order to foster business relations with Welsh companies and their Libyan counterparts.
