Trane leader to discuss energy saving measures at the Middle East District Cooling Summit in Doha

Albert Haykal, vertical market leader- district cooling for Trane UAE and Gulf, will discuss the advantages for large chilled water district cooling plants of using series flow arrangement versus parallel arrangement during the upcoming Middle East District Cooling Summit at Doha, Qatar, 03-05 November. The summit promotes the importance of energy efficiency in the development of a sustainable city.

Discussion topics at the meeting will include various technical matters, financing, modality of contracts and government involvement. The summit attracts a number of professionals who have come to consider the Middle East as a leading region in the field of district cooling.

Demand for air conditioning or comfort cooling is growing steadily in the Middle East. With the increased focus on energy spending, especially during the current economic slowdown, it is vital for district cooling companies to focus on various practices which reduce energy consumption while continuing to provide the same level of output and comfort expected by customers.

Haykal's presentation will discuss how applying the series counter-flow chiller configuration to district cooling plants can increase energy efficiency, save life-cycle cost and make good business sense. The technique has been successfully applied in several plants which Haykal will discuss during his presentation.

Albert Haykal, vertical market leader- district cooling for Trane S.A., has worked for Trane in the HVAC industry for the last 21 years. He has held numerous positions with Trane, including Sales Manager for Strategic Projects- UAE &Gulf. Haykal has been working with various customers in the region to promote the importance of systems efficiency and sustainability in HVAC industry, especially in the district cooling applications. In the last 8 years, Haykal was instrumental in leading district cooling projects in the region. Haykal is a member of the International District Energy Association and ASHRAE and earned a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from American University of Beirut in 1987.
