ITP's Web Index in its latest report published this week puts arabia.com in pole position with more than 60 million page views for the month of October, a 10 percent increase over its figures for the previous month.

"If you consider that in May of this year arabia.com was in the number one position with 22 million page views, you get an idea of how phenomenally the internet has grown in this region during the past year," says Ramzi Zeine, Chief Executive Officer of arabia.com. "September and October witnessed exceptional growth across all of our services but our chat and news facilities were in particular demand as the events of those months brought people to our site in search of updates and to exchange views."

arabia.com has introduced a host of new services and channels throughout the year including 'Mersal' which attracted a huge number of internet users, as it was the first Instant Messenger to provide unique features in the region such as bilingual interoperability with MSN, Yahoo and ICQ messengers.

The announcement of a $20 million private placement was also another significant boost for the company and represented, according to Ramzi Zeine 'a major vote of confidence in the dotcom industry in this region as a whole.'
