'Halal Expo 2009' to welcome top exhibitors from Malaysia

  • United Arab Emirates: Thursday, November 05 - 2009 at 11:49
  • PRESS RELEASE

'Halal Expo 2009', the definitive event for the Halal industry in the region, is set to welcome top exhibitors from Malaysia, who will comprise one of the biggest national delegations at the annual affair, according to organisers, Orange Fairs & Events.

According to the Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MMITI), the country is eyeing opportunities within Middle East Halal industry in support of the Malaysian Government's aims to cultivate its Halal market as a new growth sector and reach its 25% growth target for this year. The three-day exposition is slated to run from November 10 - 12, 2009 at Al Jawhara Hall, Madinat Jumeirah Hotel in Dubai.

According to market projections based on latest available statistics from the Ministry, the value of the region's Halal industry was more than $20bn in 2008. In line with this, Malaysian companies have identified 'Halal Expo 2009' as a unique platform to gain a strong foothold of the regional market, and as a vehicle by which they can expand their network, with over 200 brands from 34 countries expected to attend the event. In addition, the event is poised for a 100% growth this year, with the anticipated attendance of approximately 4,000 visitors and a total of 2,600 sq. metres of exhibitor space.

"The Halal industry has become a strong stable market with the number of Halal consumers worldwide reaching 1.8bn and annual sales hitting $580bn. Amidst the rising affluence of Muslims around the world, most prominently in the Middle East, we believe that 'Halal Expo 2009' will be the perfect platform and channel through which companies from Malaysia can communicate to both global and regional customers about the excellent quality and value of Halal goods. The Malaysian delegation is planning to leverage this event to increase awareness on the benefits of Halal products for both Muslim and non-Muslim consumers."

said Nafees Ahmed, Project Manager, Orange Fairs & Events.

In addition to Malaysia companies, Halal-product exporters and manufacturers from Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Brunei, Bosnia, Canada, China, Egypt, France, India, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Netherlands, Pakistan, The Philippines, Turkey, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, KSA, UK and the UAE, have also confirmed their participation. In addition, several regional and international Halal Certification Authorities, Chambers of Commerce, and International Halal Associations are also set to stage an extensive presence at the event.

"Malaysian exporters are focusing on the Middle East as a new business destination, with most of these companies now even more aggressively exploring more effective means to establish a strong presence within the region. The goal we have set for the 'Halal Expo 2009' complements the aims of global exporters such as Malaysia and the rest of the confirmed exhibitors from across the globe, as we are working towards providing them a true gateway to the burgeoning Middle East Halal market. We are looking forward to opening this year's event, and we anticipate the presence of world-class products in all the stands," concluded Ahmed.
