Fortune's Middle East editions will be published monthly, in Arabic, through a license agreement between Time Inc. and United Group, a major publisher in the region.

The magazine will launch its first local edition, Fortune UAE, followed by Fortune Kuwait, in early 2010.

These will be the first of seven local editions and represent Fortune's fifth and sixth foreign-language editions, following Fortune China, Fortune Turkey as well as the twice yearly special issues of Fortune Greece and the recently launched Fortune Korea.

"The launch of the Fortune Arabia editions promises the start of a successful partnership between Time Inc. and UG. We are pleased to partner with the most prestigious business publication," Bashar Kiwan, the CEO and chairman of United Group said about acquiring the Arabic rights to the title.

Kiwan added, "We share the same vision with Fortune for superb editorial content and soaring journalistic standards. We are enthusiastic about providing the Arab readers with a top tier business publication that will provide regional and global news."

"The Middle East business market has experienced dramatic growth and importance, creating a need for Fortune's high-quality and in-depth business journalism," said Hugh Wiley, Publisher, Fortune. "With United Group, we are confident that they will provide in-depth understanding, analysis and journalism of the important developments in each country individually as well as the region more generally."

"We believe that the region is in need for a prestigious and credible business title. Fortune will fill this gap and offer the Arab reader a smart mix of international content and local insights. We have no doubt that the Fortune Arabia editions will follow the success of the original title," said Majd Suleiman, COO of United Group.

"United Group's strategy for covering the region will be instrumental to Fortune's success there," added Jim Jacovides, Time Inc. Vice President of Licensing. "The team's approach to local and regional staff ensures the readers of Fortune editions in the Middle East will be provided with the most important business developments locally, regionally and globally."
