Greater Amman Municipality signs road furniture agreement

Upon this agreement, signed by Mayor, Eng. Omar Al Maani, representing GAM, and the General Manager, Hussein Khader, representing the Company, furniture is to be manufactured and eventually installed in certain sites selected by GAM, which include 700 stations for passengers, 500 wastebaskets, 150 benches, and management and maintenance through the agreement duration. Seagulls Company offers to extend 1200 advertising signs with a space of 2 m2 each, 15% of which to be allocated to GAM for non commercial purposes (initiatives).

Al Maani said that this agreement embodies the fruitful cooperation between the public and private sectors, success can always be achieved by collaboration and understanding among law abiding investors. He confirmed that such a project is an example of the successful investments which serve the future of the city.

The agreement stipulates that the road furniture be maintained and kept clean, safe, and civilized during the twenty year contract, in addition to providing good revenue to GAM from advertising within the project's framework.

The company, which is currently founding a management and maintenance center, will have an exclusive right in all advertising signs with the size of 2 m2 within GAM boundaries, and a privilege to use the signs from size 1 m2 to 7.5 m2, also within GAM jurisdiction. GAM gets 35% of the total advertising revenue of the project.

Road furniture is to be installed within a period of two years in the GAM specified locations, and upon expiry of the agreement, the ownership of these equipment goes to GAM.

GAM had tendered this project since May 2008, six local and international companies then presented technical and financial offers which were evaluated upon three elements which are: the technical and financial skills and qualifications of the company (20 points), the technical proposals (45 points), and the financial proposals (35 points).

And the bid was awarded to the company which achieved the highest score in the above mentioned criteria.

In addition to the split percentage of the advertising revenues, the Company offered extra advantages such as an advertising campaign on three broadcasting stations with a cost of 100.000 JD, press coverage in Amlak weekly worth of 35.000 JD annually, an annual gift at a value amounting to 10.000 JD for contests organized by GAM for urban and architectural development projects for universities and concerned institutes, annual support worth of 45.000 JD for the social initiatives of GAM, and finally providing 1000 lampposts for publicizing national events and occasions.

It is worth mentioning that the Company installed trial samples of road furniture in Abdul Men'em Reyad St., that included a bus station, a wastebasket, an advertising board in the middle island of Mecca St., and a bench in Al Wakalat St.
