Oman Air announces participation in World Travel Market 2009

Oman air will partake in World Travel Market 2009 (WTM 2009), the global event for the travel industry during the period 9-12 November. Staged annually in ExCeL London under one roof, WTM is a vibrant must attend four-day business-to-business event.

Oman Air will be giving visitors to World Travel Market an opportunity to experience some of the most luxurious seats ever offered by a commercial airline when it showcases its brand new First Class Mini Suite and Business Class seat at the event.

The premium seats, together with a spacious new Economy Class seat, were unveiled on 6th October in Muscat, Oman, on a demonstration flight of Oman Air's first Airbus A330-300.They are entering service on key European and Asian routes.

Featuring an 82-inch long, fully-flat bed within a pitch of 85.5 inches, a seat width of 25.5 inches, electrically-operated backrest, leg rest and seat depth controls, and an eight-point massage system, Oman Air's First Class Mini Suite provides unparalleled levels of comfort and space. Each seat offers a 23-inch in-flight entertainment (IFE) monitor, a wireless IFE handset, a backup IFE handset, two USB ports, an Ethernet socket (RJ45), an audio and video assumption (RCA) plug and a PC power outlet.

The 77.5-inch long, lie-flat Business Class seat with a pitch of 82 inches is 22 inches wide and offers electrically controlled backrest, leg rest and seat depth. Each of the 20 Business Class seats, fitted in a four-abreast, 1:2:1 configuration, also features a 17-inch Gen. III IFE monitor, two USB ports, an Ethernet socket (RJ45), audio and video assumption (RCA) plug and PC power outlet. With a cocktail table, a one-piece meal table, a buddy seat and ample stowage, Oman Air's Business Class seat has been hailed as being better than many other airlines' first class offering.

Oman Air's strategic expansion has seen the airline launch new destinations, aircraft and products within the last few weeks. New routes from Muscat to Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, The Maldives, and Sri Lanka have been introduced and more are expected over coming months. In addition, the airline has taken delivery of brand new Airbus A330 aircraft, with new Economy, Business, and First Class cabins, together with state of the art in-flight entertainment and delicious new menus. Together, these innovations are transforming the passenger experience on key routes across Europe and Asia and the stunning three-class service will be launched on the London Heathrow to Muscat route from December.

Oman Air has also ensured that prices remain competitive, with customers paying from under £400 for a return fare from London to Muscat. In addition, Oman Air offers some of the cheapest flights on the market to a range of destinations in India.

Oman Air's fleet consists of Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A330s. At the end of 2009, the fleet strength will be 15 B737-800s, two A330-200s and two A330-300s. During 2010/2011, three additional A330-300s will be delivered. For the future, Oman Air has ordered six Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which are scheduled for delivery in 2014.
