DTCM hosts Dubai Road Show in three Chinese cities

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) conducted Dubai Road Shows in three Chinese cities of Dubai as a Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou recently.
Representatives of three co-sponsors, Emirates Airline, Jumeirah and Arabian Explorers, and other 32 co-participants took part in the road shows.
Over 120 local travel agents in each city attended the event and co-participants took this opportunity to network with their counterparts and potential buyers in China.
The DTCM also arranged "China Outbound Clinic" before the table talk section in Beijing and Shanghai. Eight local outbound industry experts made speeches about China outbound industry, and co-participants discussed the market characteristics, tourist request, and product innovation with these experts.
DTCM presented Outstanding Partnership Award 2009 during the road shows with 31 local travel agencies winning this award for their efforts in promoting Dubai.
Over 96,300 Chinese guests stayed in Dubai hotels in 2008, up by four percent compared with the previous year. It believed that the amount of Chinese visitors to Dubai has a remarkable increase in 2009 since the start of Approved Destination Status.
DTCM China Road Show is a yearly event to promote Dubai as an ideal destination in China market, which is also an opportunity for hotels, DMCs and airlines to meet their cooperative agencies and potential buyers in China.
The Chinese government accorded the UAE an Approved Destination Status country for Chinese travel groups from September 15.
The DTCM's China Representative Office launched an on-line appointment system. The system contained sellers' profile, contact information and details; buyers selected the appointments according to their needs in advance
DTCM printed and distributed appointments agenda for buyers and sellers, buyers walked around the venue and talked with the sellers who had appointments with them.
About 66 VIP buyers from Beijing market pre-registered and made appointments in the system.
