The programme is being organized in collaboration with some of the major international organizations working in the field of public relations and institutional communication, and will run in Oman, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Yemen and Libya. It aims to promote communication skills for people working in governmental bodies and large corporations by qualifying highly skilled official spokespersons. Primary targets of the programme include corporation spokespersons and public relations and institutional communication managers.

Mr Ahmad Ouda, public relations and institutional communication expert, and programme director at the Royal Institute of Public Relations, UAE, said that 200 people, representing leaders from both public and private sectors in the Gulf region and surrounding Arab countries, have benefited from the programme over the past two years.

He explained that the programme provided excellent support for developing this position, which has become a 'must-have title' in some of the governmental institutions in the Arab region due to its great importance and sensitive role within the communication strategy of any organization.

"The absence of qualified persons to fill in this job could cause a lot of damage to organizations and institutions, especially during times of crises," he added.

The programme was developed according to the highest professional standards in this field, which gives a real chance to acquire professional and state-of-the-art skills in dealing with various media types, since it largely focuses on practical applications, in an environment that avails all technological facilities needed to perform all types of interviews. Moreover, on the last day of the training, each trainee makes a live interview with one of the veteran announcers, allowing for a hands-on training and testing of dialogue skills. Finally, at the end of the training, each trainee receives a video tape that has all exercises done throughout the training recorded on it. The programme is available in both Arabic and English languages.
