R&M has seen an increased demand from the aviation sector for individual cabling solutions to manage airport growth and has completed a number of important projects over the past months as airports look to innovative network infrastructures for optimum flow management.

R&M has recently completed extensive cabling network implementations at major airports such as Paris, Geneva, Basel, Nuremberg and Incheon (Korea) and in Egypt for Marsa Al Alam International Airport.

Jean Pierre Labry, Managing Director of R&M Middle East & Africa, commented:
"Faced with the constant increase in air traffic and a greater need for security, airport operators must be able to rely on an impeccable IT infrastructure with networks expected to be high-performing, secure, stable and dependable around the clock with no downtime."

"R&M passive cabling solutions support this growth to ensure high quality communication networks within the airport. With uncompromising quality and security standards, R&M delivers complete solutions for all kinds aviation requirements, based on optical fibers and copper transmission media," added Labry.

The increase in passenger growth at the airport was recently highlighted by SITA, the leading specialist in air transport communication and IT solutions in their annual Airport IT Trends Survey 2009.

The study reported passenger numbers are expected to grow throughout 2010 and 2011. Growth which will in turn result in increased airport congestion. SITA found that airport IT budgets remained at relatively the same levels with IT investments decreasing only slightly from 3.5% in 2007 to 3.2% in 2008. With the world's airport IT industry estimated to be worth $3bn, the survey found that 45% of respondents expect budget increases in 2010.

Sophisticated technologies to ease the passenger journey through the airport are priorities for airports surveyed, with IT investments in passenger processing, security and airport operations being a high focus area for investment in the coming years. Dubai Airports Company also predicts that new aircraft technology will contribute to passenger traffic growth and have already forecasted 13.6% international passenger growth in 2010. Abu Dhabi is experiencing similar growth and saw a 6.8% passenger increase in September alone.

The growth challenges of a constant increase in air traffic and a greater need for security, mean airport operators must be able to rely on an impeccable IT infrastructure. The expectation is now for networks to be high-performing, secure, stable and dependable.

R&M high end cabling solutions deliver high quality and innovative technology with well qualified and experienced teams of professionals implementing completely modular systems that allow airport staff to facilitate changes and developments based on business requirements, as well as plan expansion with ease. These advanced solutions deliver ongoing savings to airports thanks to the reduced quantity of components that will be required for a change to the network.
