More than 67 companies from around the world will showcase their products and services in the largest Exhibition ever held during the IDA World Congress' 26 year history.

The 2009 IDA World Congress takes place November 7-12 in Dubai at the Atlantis-The Palm Jumeirah. The event, which has grown exponentially year after year, brings together the world's most prominent industry players, including end-users (utilities), manufacturers and suppliers, government officials, researchers, financiers and members of academia from around the world. Approximately 1,800 delegates are expected to attend.

According to Patricia A. Burke, Secretary General of the International Desalination Association, this year's Exhibition will cover more than 2,000 square meters. Demand was so high that space sold out in less than a month. The Exhibition will officially open following a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 9:00 AM on Sunday, November 8.

A partial list of Exhibitors includes ACCIONA Agua, aqualia, ACWA Sasakura, Aquatech International, BASF, Befesa, Black & Veatch, Cadagua, Degremont, Doosan, Dow Water & Process Solutions, Energy Recovery, Inc., GE Water & Process Technologies, Global Water Intelligence, Graham Tek, H2O Innovations, Koch Membrane Systems, KSB AG, Metito, Nitto/Denko Hydranautics, PUB Singapore, Pump Engineering, Schlumberger Water, TechnoPark/EZW, Toray Membrane, Veolia Water, Victaulic, Water Standard, X-Flow/Norit and more. A complete list of Exhibitors is available online.

The following is just a sampling of new products to be shown at the World Congress.

Avista Technologies

(Booth 84) will launch an array of new products. Avista's laboratories continue formulating a variety of new chemicals including the AvistaClean range of MF/UF membrane cleaners, additional environmentally friendly RoClean cleaners, and AntiChlor 427 odorless de-chlorination liquid.

Bekaert Progressive Composites

(Booth 50) is the manufacturer of PROTEC pressure vessels. Protec products are the latest step in more than 30 years of vessel development. These products take into account demands by the membrane industry with regards to optimizing flow and connections, as well as the demands of the system builder/ operator for a more efficient, easy opening and trouble-free membrane housing. Bekaert will continue to develop new, innovative products, at the cutting edge of vessel design and system lay-out, meeting the challenges of water-industry both now and in the future.

Danfoss A/S

(Booth 97) is launching the WaterCube 2, a powerful water desalination unit capable of producing approximately 4800 liters per day high-quality drinking water from salt water. It is designed for continuous operation with long service intervals. With its revolutionary energy recovery system and carefully designed pumping and filtration system, the WaterCube 2 produces water at only 3.5 kW/m3. The WaterCube is ideal for home-owners and small resorts in coastal areas. Danfoss RO Solutions (Booth 120-121), selling compact and energy-efficient high pressure pumps for SWRO systems, is also planning to introduce an innovation at the World Congress.

Dow Water & Process Solutions

(Booth 23-26), a division of The Dow Chemical Company, and a leading global supplier of advanced technologies for purification and separation processes designed to make water safer, cleaner and more available, will be launching new DOW™ FILMTEC reverse osmosis technology for seawater treatment at the IDA World Congress in Dubai, UAE. Visit Dow's booth, where all new products will be on display.

Koch Membrane Systems, Inc.

(Booth 2-5), a pioneer in membrane technology filtration systems, engineering and process expertise for close to half a century, will launch its new solution for large capacity seawater reverse osmosis (RO) projects at the IDA World Congress. KMS' new seawater solution will feature pre-engineered packaged plants up to 2 MGD as well as larger, modular building blocks for higher capacity requirements of up to 50 MGD and more. The new offering will utilize MegaMagnumŽ PLUS seawater elements.

Toray Membrane

(Booth 31-34) will introduce its newest high performance 8" RO Element called TM820R-440. This new high performance TM820R-440 RO element features a high specific production capacity and industry-highest Boron rejection. This new product will be commercially available in early 2010. In addition, Toray will showcase other innovations such as TORAYSEAL Bi-Directional brine seal for easy replacement of 8" RO elements to save cost and reduce time and labor, and TORAYAxiaL, Axial labyrinth connection system. Toray will also show its line-up of MBR and UF technology.

Water Standard

(Booth 58) will show its vessel-based approach to desalination, which is quite new to the water treatment industry and provides an alternative to land-based water treatment and other alternatives to water supply. The vessel-based approach was developed to offer alternative water solutions to industrial and municipal clients, but recent studies have highlighted applications beyond this for the offshore oil and gas industry. A product line of Water Standard, H2Ocean Offshore, has been recently showcased for providing offshore customers with a new approach to production challenges that can help increase oil production while lowering the cost of implementation. For applications in the offshore E&P industry, Water Standard's vessel-based approach provides an environmentally sensitive, innovative and cost-effective option for delivering needed water to platforms without being restricted by the lack of available power or footprint.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the 2009 IDA World Congress is being hosted by TechnoPark and supported by Economic Zones World.

World Congress sponsors are ACWA Power International and Metito (Platinum Sponsors); Dow Water & Process Solutions and Besix (Gold Sponsors); and EBD Water, Pump Engineering, Palm Water, Victaulic, MWH and Toray Membrane (Blue Sponsors).
