The move coincides with the newly established Egyptian SAE airline 'Nile Air' signing up to participate in the Sabre Global Distribution System (GDS).

At a celebratory dinner at Cairo's Intercontinental Citystars Hotel, STNME's CEO Daniel Naoumovitch introduced Nile Air's CEO Captain AbdulAllah Al Haidar as his guest of honour, together with Quintin Scholtz, STNME's Regional Commercial Director and Mohamed Khalafallah, Country Manager Egypt to an audience of more than 100 representatives from the Egyptian travel industry. The event followed an official opening of the new Cairo office in the morning with industry leaders including a delegation from Egypt Air, Free Shop & Karnak.

"Sabre Travel Network Middle East is the only GDS to have its regional head office based in the Middle East, supported by a local customer sales and service centre to specifically address the needs of all Middle East customers,"

Naoumovitch told the delegates.

"We have also launched an enhanced level of service for our customers with a new Help Desk hotline number - 16778 - that our business customers can contact anytime from anywhere within Egypt. By combining our unique expertise and leading technology, we believe we are best positioned in the market to help agencies and corporations make money, save money and provide better customer service," he concluded.

Delegates at the dinner learned about Sabre's new distribution agreement with Nile Air and were introduced to Nile Air's commercial team - Nemat Salem, Chief Commercial Officer, Mohamed Mattar, General Sales Manager and Menna Salama, Communication Manager. Nile Air's bookings will be made accessible through the Sabre GDS that provides the most comprehensive end-to-end travel solutions such as fares, room rates and schedules, and connects travel suppliers - including hundreds of airlines and thousands of hotels - with more than 55,000 travel agency locations.

Delegates at the dinner were also introduced to Sabre's corporate solution suite which provides a vast array of products and services benefiting the Travel Agency and their customers. Presentation highlights included: GetThere, a corporate online booking tool; Sabre .Res, the consumer online booking tool; Sabre Virtually There, a website that provides around the clock real-time travel information; Sabre Traveler Security and Data Suite, the solution for quickly locating travellers and providing valuable business intelligence; Corporate Travel Policy (CTP) system that helps the agency verify corporate guidelines; in addition to Sabre Web Services (SWS), which provides easier, faster and more flexible access to Sabre system functionality, content and products.
