Asiacell launches Aircraft Roaming service

The On Aircraft Roaming service enables Asiacell postpaid subscribers to enjoy GSM roaming services and full voice, SMS and GPRS services while on board commercial aircrafts by using their ordinary mobile handsets, whereby Asiacell customers can make and receive calls and SMS messages in-flight as well as browse the Internet and send emails, remaining connected to their friends, family and business colleagues regardless of their location.

Commenting on the launch of this service, Dr. Diar Ahmed, Asiacell's CEO, said: "We are very proud to be the first telecom company in Iraq to launch the On Aircraft Roaming service in cooperation with On Air, which when combined with our previously launched Smart Roamer and Ocean Roaming services, offers Asiacell roamers complete roaming coverage when they're travelling on land, by ocean or by air."

It is worth noting that Asiacell launched its Smart Roamer and Ocean Roaming services earlier this year. Through its Smart Roamer service, Asiacell offers all its subscribers a cost-efficient and simple roaming experience that requires no additional registration procedures and Asiacell subscribers can benefit from discounted rates for local calls as well as call back to Iraq and to other countries within the Smart Roamer Zone. The Ocean Roaming service is the first of its kind in Iraq and offers Asiacell subscribers a wider international roaming coverage, as they can stay connected whilst at sea.
