"The Conference enabled us to meet the world's leading tall buildings experts who have overseen iconic projects in the past 20 years. We learned about best practices in sustainability, design, construction and budgeting which will help us develop better buildings in the UAE and across our region. We gained valuable insights on how the downturn and climate change affect building design, and how the industry should respond to these two challenges,"
said Prof. Abdul Rahim Sabouni, Vice Chancellor and CEO, Al Hosn University.
Prof. Sabouni represented Al Hosn University during the conference. CTBUH event reflects Al Hosn University's commitment to raising more professional and public awareness on the proper construction of high-rises. Just last April of 2009, the university hosted the "Seminar on Construction of Tall Buildings" conducted by the UAE Chapter of the American Concrete Institute (ACI), one of the world's leading authorities on concrete technology. Prof. Sabouni is also the founding president of the ACI-UAE Chapter.
Al Hosn University opened its doors to students of all nationalities in 2005. It currently offers 11 undergraduate and 7 graduate programs in three faculties, accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Its City Campus includes the Men's Campus, the Women's Campus, Library Building, Lectures Building, the Engineering Labs Building, and a recently-constructed Studio Building. Al Hosn has been encouraging the participation of more women in scientific and engineering courses.
