  • United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, November 10 - 2009 at 13:58
  • PRESS RELEASE

Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADMC), one of the fastest-growing multi-platform media organizations in the region, today announced that it has signed an agreement to become a 'National Supporter' of the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2009 and 2010.

The sponsorship agreement, which was inked in Abu Dhabi, is only the latest milestone in ADMC's plans to support and nurture interest in sports and sporting ambition in the region. In addition to launching a range of media offerings for sports fans, the company is also looking to ramp up its support of locally relevant sporting events through sponsorships like the FIFA Club World Cup.

"ADMC's decision to sign up as National Supporter of the FIFA Club World Cup in 2009 and 2010 demonstrates our support of the development of a world class sporting industry and sports media in Abu Dhabi," said Edward Borgerding, CEO of ADMC.

He added: "With Abu Dhabi Al Riyadiya very much the home of football in the region, with its recent exclusive rights signing for the English Premier League starting in 2010, the launch of the Arab world's first fantasy football game Goal Arabia and the new football portal Super.ae, as well as bagging the prestigious Golden Supplement Award for Al Ittihad newspaper's great coverage of Khaleeji 19 in 2009, ADMC is providing the region's sports fans with a broad range of sporting content. We will continue to leverage our position by partnering with high profile organizations like FIFA."

Commenting on the agreement, Thierry Weil from FIFA said: "We are seeing more and more interest in football from the UAE. Having homegrown organizations support the event is integral to our success and we are delighted that the Abu Dhabi Media Company, a forward thinking organization with significant interest in football, has come on board."
