"When we arrived at Oxford we were given a very warm welcome by everyone and felt right at home. It has been three weeks now since our ground training began and we are all keen to see what is in store for us. On behalf of all the cadets, I would like to thank everyone involved in making this dream a reality for us especially Gulf Aviation Academy who have been very supportive of us and have ensured our comfort for the duration of our stay."
Mr. Khalil Amin, Head of Marketing & Business Development at GAA said, "We are very proud to see our cadets in their uniforms and to know that they are on their way toward a new and exciting career. Our focus now is to continue supporting the first batch in order for them to successfully complete their training, and see the remaining batches of cadets make their way to the program and follow on the example set by the first batch."
The programme, which is a joint initiative with Mumtalakat, Bahrain Development Bank ("BDB") and Tamkeen (Labour Fund), is run by Gulf Aviation Academy (GAA). These cadets are the first of 100 Bahrainis who will have the opportunity to become commercial pilots. The cadets will spend the majority of their time in Oxford Aviation Academy, to complete the internationally certified commercial pilot training programme.
Once the two year programme is complete, GAA will support the cadets in their job search both in Bahrain and across the region.
