Jordan Dubai Islamic Bank announces new hire

Jordan Dubai Islamic Bank (JDIB) has announced the recent appointment of Dr. Hussain Hamed Hassan as the Chairman of the Shari'a and Legitimacy Control Committee. Dr. Ali Al Swa and Dr. Ahmed Melham were also appointed to the committee as members. Dr. Hassan's appointment as a Chairman was based on his many years of experience in the area of Islamic Finance, and his position of Chairman for the Shari'a and Legitimacy Control Committee at several Islamic financial institutions in the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Republic of Sudan, People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, the United Kingdom, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and many others.

Dr. Hassan has extensive experience in the field of Islamic finance acquired over the past fifty years, where he worked as a Legal and Economic Consultant for several countries as well as Islamic organizations. He has also followed an academic career starting as a Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Law at Cairo University where he became a Lecturer at the Shari'a department then became an Assistant Professor then a Professor followed by being the Chairman for the same department. Dr. Hassan has a Bachelor degree in Law and Economics from Cairo University, a Masters degree in Comparative Jurisprudence from the International Institute of Comparative Law at the New York University and a Ph.D. in Jurisprudence and the Fundamentals of Jurisprudence from Al-Azhar University.

In light of Dr. Hassan's appointment, His Excellency Mr. Samir Al-Rifa'i, Chairman of JDIB Board, said:

Dr. Hassan's response was "I am thrilled and honored to be a part of JDIB family as I am excited that I will be working in Jordan, whose Islamic finance sector has been witnessing a strong support from its Central Bank which shows the potential of growth in the sector leading towards more prosperity in the Kingdom."

Dr. Hussain Hamed Hassan was in a two-day visit to the Kingdome, where he had meetings with Dr. Noah Qudah, Chairman of the Shari'a Department at Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ), as well as heads of other departments at the CBJ and the current customers at JDIB.
