His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed K. A. Al Faisal, Group President & CEO, graced the opening ceremony of the exclusive PlayStation World in Tahlia Street, in the capital.

The 300 square meters store was opened in close coordination with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) - the London-based Sony PlayStation Division which serves Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) and Australasia. Robert Fisser, VPO of SCEE, Tim Stokes, Sales & Marketing Director of SCEE & Bader AlSwailem, Managing Director (MECL) attended the ceremony.

The launch of PlayStation World is a major step forward for PlayStation, which enjoys over 75% market share in the gaming sector across the Kingdom, and will go a long way in further building the excitement about PlayStation in the region. The store will offer the entire range of PlayStation Network (PSN) content for PSP and PlayStation 3, along with gaming accessories and solutions.

In his comments, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed K. A. Al Faisal said: "We are privileged to unveil this new PlayStation store in Riyadh for our gaming aficionados. At the new store, we offer the latest games online for users to partake of. The PlayStation World will continue to enhance the brand loyalty of PlayStation and the unique Sony experience by constantly upgrading our facilities in line with the requirements of our discerning customers."

Mr. Bader AlSwailem said:
"With the new PlayStation World, gaming users can now experience advantages of Online Gaming, Wifi with PSP and HD compatibility with Vaio and Bravia technology under one roof. Our focus is to have a place where everyone can come and experience the full power of PlayStation - which is doing exceedingly well in the region and in fact is no.7 in Europe. When we are talking of a subscriber base of 121,000 for online gaming in the PlayStation Network, this move is indeed huge."

To coincide with the opening of PlayStation World, MECL with SCEE is also having a 3-day Gamers' Day Annual event at King Faisal Foundation where PlayStation gamers can come and try the new games on offer. "This initiative will allow the gamers to experience the new generation games before it is launched in the market, so we have everything on offer for our customers. This will also show how PlayStation is a totally different experience from other solutions on offer," said Abdul Kader, Marketing Head of Play Station Division (MECL).

PlayStation World is targeted at the youth segment and provides a wholesome PS experience under one roof with the latest gaming solutions. The store will also provide an overview of the Sony digital hi-definition lifestyle products.
