VIVA is the 12th mobile operator in the Middle East and North Africa region to choose Syniverse during the past two years, demonstrating the company's growing success in helping operators overcome the region's key business challenges.
"With a total number of subscribers expected to reach 193 million by 2012, the Middle East and North Africa region is clearly a strong growth market. And Syniverse is at the center of it all, gaining significant momentum as we simplify business and technical complexities for operators across the region. With this suite of solutions, VIVA will enjoy simplified roaming operations, while providing its customers with a high-quality multimedia messaging experience,"
said Eugene Bergen Henegouwen, Executive Vice President, EMEA, Syniverse.
Syniverse will provide VIVA with a simplified, end-to-end clearing process through its DCH and FCH, while DataNet will protect the operator from roaming fraud and ensure compliance with the GSM Association's NRTRDE initiative. RMS will help VIVA increase roaming revenue through better planning, reporting, monitoring and analysis of roaming data; and SCCP Gateway will give the operator interoperability and signaling translation capabilities necessary to provide its subscribers with seamless international roaming.
With SS7 Signaling Transport, VIVA will benefit from a network backbone for a variety of advanced, intelligent network services and features, such as call delivery, fraud control, local number portability and calling name features, which make roaming possible.
For the messaging side of its business, VIVA will use Syniverse's MMS-IG service to help grow the operator's messaging revenues by solving business and technical issues associated with delivering MMS off-network and between operators. As a result, VIVA subscribers will experience a seamless, transparent multimedia messaging experience.
"As mobile continues to gain tremendous momentum in this region, we needed a provider who could help us meet and exceed the growing expectations of our customers," said Najeeb Al-Awadi, CEO, VIVA. "We selected Syniverse because we felt both the scope of its solutions as well as its knowledge of this dynamic mobile market make it the best choice to help us grow our business."
