- PRESS RELEASE
Ras Laffan Port overcame strong opposition and was announced the Lloyd's List Award winner of 'Infrastructure' by beating other finalist who included DP World - UAE Region and the Krishnapatnam Port Company. This Award is given to the port, yard, owner or operator for providing the most suitable infrastructure to promote maritime growth and operational excellence.
The Lloyd's List Awards are a unique occasion to celebrate performance and innovation and have become the benchmark for excellence within the maritime industry. Lloyd's is synonymous with maritime activity having been involved with the industry for over 275 years. Lloyd's annually hosts six prestigious awards ceremonies which are held in the most exciting and vibrant maritime regions of the world.
The winners were announced at a glittering awards dinner and presentation which took place on Sunday November 8 at the magnificent Jowhara Ballroom in Dubai. Over 450 senior maritime executives from across the region gathered at the Madinat Jumeirah Hotel for the gala dinner.
Ras Laffan in 2009 has received several accolades which have recognised the huge investment and safe operations of this important industrial city and port. At a similar event last month, Ras Laffan was awarded an unprecedented three awards at the Seatrade event. These included 'Port Authority', 'Energy - Oil & Gas' and 'Environmental Protection' Awards.
Commenting on this new achievement, the Director of Ras Laffan Industrial City, Sheikh Khalid Al Thani said, "This has been a dream year for us and it is a significant occasion for all of us at QP and RLC. We are thankful to each and every employee of Ras Laffan for this resounding success."
