Tamkeen nurtures business leadership with Kaizen workshop

Tamkeen today flagged off the second Kaizen Management workshop which will take Bahraini business owners and managers through the paces of the world-famous Japanese production system.

Over 150 owners and managers from the private sector have enrolled for the day-long workshop which will be conducted by Professor Seiichi Fujita, (Graduate School of Commerce at Waseda University of Japan) a world-famous authority on the subject. The workshop is being run in conjunction with the Japanese Embassy and the Japanese Co-operation centre for the Middle East (JCCME).

"We are very pleased with the strong response to the Kaizen workshop," said Tamkeen's Senior Manager for Private Sector Support, Mohammed Bucheery, "The 'Kaizen Management' method has already won many business owners and decision-makers in Bahrain's private sector since it was introduced through our programmes to SMEs seeking to restructure for profit.

Meanwhile, in her welcome note, Tamkeen's Vice-President for Administration and Finance, Suha Karzoun, "The famous Kaizen methodology has already caught the imagination of Bahraini private sector and SME owners, thanks to our earlier programmes.

Feedback from them shows us that the methodology has allowed many Bahraini business owners to restructure for profit with the help of the relevant and appropriate guidance and consultancy and we feel it is right to allow a wider circle of Bahrain's business community to benefit from the practices through such intensive workshops."

She added:
"This is a unique opportunity to get a direct perspective on this winning methodology from Professor Fujita, who brings years of experience in conducting this workshop worldwide."


Kaizen is the Japanese production management system; it is a feedback action to improve the quality, cost, and delivery of products or services. The workshop will also explain the advantages of Kaizen suggestion system compared with another suggestion system, and introduce Japanese Industrial application known as "5S activities."

Tamkeen's partner in the workshop, JCCME is an independent, non-profit foundation authorised and supervised by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). The objective of JCCME is to contribute to the promotion of Japan's investment, trade, economic and technical cooperation with the Middle East countries, with a view to furthering their economic development.
Hence, JCCME carries out the following activities: Investment Promotion Activities, International Conferences and Communication, Research and Surveys, Cooperation Promotion and Information Services, and Seminars and Training.
