However, recently the existing switching system for the Service has now become totally obsolete making it impossible for Batelco to continue delivering a satisfactory service.
"We have explored many options including purchasing a new system to provide the service. Unfortunately, the cost of a new system combined with the small number of Batelco customers who still use the service, has made this option not commercially viable,"
said Batelco Group General Manager Media & Government Relations Ahmed Al Janahi.
"As in all communications' technologies, older products and services are continually being replaced with innovative and advanced newer ones and Batelco continues to move with the times in order to meet the public demand for the latest means of communicating with each other."
Customers who would like to continue using the Telex service may approach Telex providers outside Bahrain. For financial institutions using Telex for SWIFT transactions, they may use SWIFTNet Mail service provided by SWIFT.
