Siemens IT Solutions and Services and Naizak implement SAP system at KAUST
SIS, a global IT solutions and outsourcing arm of the global engineering powerhouse, Siemens Corporation and its Saudi partner Naizak, announced the successful implementation of the SAP system to support KAUST Research Centers' for the state-of-the-art supply chain environment. The project was completed in 110 calendar days, which is a tough deadline in most cases for large scale IT projects.
The recently opened KAUST near Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is expected to be the region's leading post-graduate University of its kind and hosts some of the most advanced IT infrastructure around, including the 10th fastest supercomputer in the World (Shaheen.)
The uniqueness of this initiative has been the rapid implementation with complete supply chain interfaces with KAUST's SAP system in a seamless integration touch points throughout SAP modules to satisfy B2B expectations between KAUST, Naizak and its vendors.
"The highlight of the implementation was clearly the range of SAP Business Suite products that were productively engaged by Naizak to serve the University. These included the SAP ERP, SCM, SRM, EP and PI that had to be implemented and interfaced with KAUST landscape keeping in line with the University's tied opening schedule,"
explained Mohammed Rizvi, head of SIS for the Gulf region.
Naizak is the outsourced primary contractor for the SCM functions supporting KAUST Research Centers' lab equipment and supplies under a long-term SCM Agreement. The Company partnered with the global expertise of SIS to help in fulfilling the IT Infrastructure needed.
"This entire initiative was quite challenging due to time constraints and simultaneous handling of multiple tasks to fulfill our main contract. We are proud to say that our partnership with Siemens and Naizak's teamhas helped us in achieving the IT application needs of this initiative," key-noted by Mr. Fuad Al Karam, General Manager, Naizak Lab Systems and Head of Naizak-KAUST Project to the President Mr. Khalid Al AbdulKarim upon go-live on August 17, 2009.
