  • United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, November 17 - 2009 at 11:51
  • PRESS RELEASE

The American Hospital Dubai continues to attract patients from the region and beyond and is expanding its Dubai campus to support the development of the emirate as an international healthcare destination for healthcare tourists. Some of the hospital's centers of excellence already attract a significant proportion of their patients from outside the UAE, and this trend is set to continue, following the opening of the new 'bed tower' in 2010, which will transform the hospital.

Construction is already well under way for the hospital's new seven-storey inpatient tower. It is projected to be completed in the first half of 2010 and will include 8 state-of-the-art operating rooms, 47 ICU beds, 178 patient beds, a new Radiation Therapy Center, an expanded Regional Center for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, and a Reference Laboratory

All of this will allow American Hospital Dubai to continue to meet the healthcare needs of the people of Dubai, UAE and the region.

"The American Hospital Dubai provides quality, cost effective, American standard healthcare to meet the needs of Dubai and the surrounding Gulf States through comprehensive primary, secondary and tertiary care services on an inpatient, outpatient and referral basis,"

says Mr Naser Saleh, Director, Marketing and Sales, American Hospital Dubai.

The Hospital was planned, designed, built and equipped to meet American standards of Healthcare. The hospital operates to these standards and all its physicians are North American Board Certified or of equivalent Western training programs, such as those in the United Kingdom and Europe.

Catering to quality medicine, American Hospital Dubai was the first hospital in the Middle East to be accredited by the Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA); a subsidiary of the United States based Joint Commission. Over the last thirteen years, the hospital has developed several areas of expertise: Heart, Total Joint Replacement, Diabetes, Neurosciences, GI Services, Cancer, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics and Obstetrics.

"Dubai has successfully established itself as a high quality, international healthcare destination and the Healthcare Travel exhibition is a great showcase for the city's healthcare providers. The quality of the facilities and the healthcare professionals, plus the ease of communications and cosmopolitan culture are the main features which attract overseas patients to Dubai," adds Mr Saleh.

"American Hospital Dubai attracts patients from across the region and beyond, with regional and international centers of excellence, such as the Total Joint Replacement Center which provides expert care to a very international patient base, of which around 40% come from outside the UAE," he added.

At the Healthcare Travel Exhibition & Congress 2009, the American Hospital Dubai will highlight its major therapeutic areas - primary, secondary and tertiary - including the Heart Center, Total Joint Replacement, Diabetes, Neurosciences, GI Services, Cancer, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics and Obstetrics.
