  • PRESS RELEASE

Oxford Business Group (OBG) has promoted Abby Lindenberg to the position of Regional Director for its operations across the GCC.

In her new role, former Country Director Lindenberg will lead OBG's critically-acclaimed country reports throughout the Gulf.

Commenting on the challenges awaiting her, Lindenberg highlighted the significant economic developments across the GCC, which OBG has consistently documented and analysed in its publications.

"There are common threads across the GCC economies, including successful diversification programmes, which are beginning to reap rewards, and economic reform that is gaining momentum, as many countries begin the move away from oil-dependency,"

she said.

Lindenberg added that it was a privilege to be in the region at such an exciting time. "I look forward to ensuring that OBG continues to lead the way as it reports the change that this dynamic region is undergoing and the opportunities being thrown out to the international business community," she said.

Elizabeth Boissevain, OBG's Director of Field Operations, said Lindenberg's extensive knowledge of the economic landscape across the GCC had been instrumental in landing her the post of Regional Director. "Abby's level of expertise in the business of country intelligence is evident in the work she has done on the ground in Qatar, Abu Dhabi and Jordan," she said.

"She has helped to consolidate OBG's high-profile presence throughout the GCC by working with key regional and international personalities and also fostered fruitful partnerships with leading, influential business institutions. I am confident that she will embrace this challenging and exciting new role," Boissevain added,
Lindenberg studied at Rutgers University in the US, where she gained a Degree in History and Spanish before furthering her studies in Argentina and Spain. Since joining OBG three and a half years ago, she has played a key role in enhancing OBG's operations across the continents, including a successful stint in Thailand where she was pivotal in helping the group successfully produce its first report in that country.

During her career, Lindenberg has notched up an impressive list of interviewees, including Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court and HE Yousef Kamal, Qatari Minister of Finance. She was also instrumental in facilitating OBG's interview with HM King Abdullah II of Jordan and the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani.

OBG's economic, political and business reports are already firmly established in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar as market leaders on foreign direct investment into each country against a regional backdrop of economic activity in the GCC. The upcoming reports, which Lindenberg and the OBG teams will be preparing over the coming months, will offer up-to-date analysis of political, macroeconomic and sectoral developments in banking, capital markets, energy, infrastructure, industry and insurance. Available in print form and online, the reports will also include interviews with leading political, economic and business figures from both the local scene and international community.
