TelecomsWorld Middle East 2009 recognizes Etisalat's leadership in digital content

TelecomsWorld Middle East 2009" granted Etisalat yesterday last night in Dubai "Best Value Added Service Award" for its Internet TV platform.

The award was open to all fixed and mobile operators and value added service or content service providers. It recognizes the operator that has developed a value added service that has enjoyed success through the market acceptance and made a significant contribution to the service revenue

Internet TV was first introduced during 2008, with a pilot launch for MBC (Middle East broadcasting Centre) for its Ramadan programming. MBC leveraged the Internet TV platform to offer their top 9 programs through their website, within 24 hours of the same program premiering on their worldwide free-to-air satellite network. According to Etisalat's analysis of May 2009 , over 8m videos have been viewed through "internet TV" platform on MBC's Shahed Online., over 3 million visitors, of whom 65% are from the Middle East,

Etisalat subscriber base has reached 94 million across its operations in 18 countries out of a total population of 2 Billion people including UAE and Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Sudan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Indonesia, India, Nigeria, Benin, Niger, Gabon, Burkina Faso, Togo, Central African Republic, Ivory Coast, Tanzania and most recently Sri Lanka.

Etisalat offers its customers a full range of telecommunication services and solutions including mobile, fixed-line telephony, Internet, cable TV services to business, government and other telecom companies.

Mr.Ali Ameeri, Executive Vice President, Carrier Wholesale, Etisalat received the award on behalf of Etisalat during the TelecomsWorld Awards Ceremony.
