Gulf Air welcomes first passengers to new home at Charles De Gaulle Airport

Gulf Air commenced operations from its new home at Charles de Gaulle Airport, Paris, France. The airline has moved from Terminal 1 to the newly refurbished Terminal 2C.

Bahrain's Ambassador to the Republic of France His Excellency Dr. Nasser Mohammed Albulooshi presided over the official opening of Gulf Air's brand new check-in area at the Terminal together with Gulf Air Commercial Manager France Mr Vincent Verdonck and Airport Manager Mr Danielo Samper.

In keeping with the airline's renowned Arabian hospitality, passengers checking-in at the airline's new home were given a warm welcome by staff. Each guest was presented with a rose and at the gate a small reception was held with canapés and refreshments.

Gulf Air Commercial Manager France Mr Vincent Verdonck said:
"I would like to thank His Excellency for attending our first day of operations from Terminal 2C. This move has been the result of a great deal of hard work from the team here in Paris and our colleagues in Head Office."

"For our customers, the move will bring them an enhanced travel experience with greater levels of comfort and convenience from shorter queues at check-in to far greater connectivity to central Paris and the rest of France on the TGV, France's high speed rail service.

Terminal 2C offers common check in check-in for Economy Class and Premium passengers enabling Gulf Air customers to check-in at any one of the 32 economy check-in desks in halls 2/3/4/6/7 and nine Business Class check-in desks in Hall 5, dramatically reducing queuing time.

For premium passengers, departure and arrival fast track services are available as well as excellent lounge facilities at the Air France premium lounge.

The lounge is fully equipped allowing customers to work or relax before their flight with the availability of snacks and beverages, newspapers, wi-fi internet access, shower facilities and more.

There is direct access from Terminal 2C to the RER, the local express train into Paris, as well as the TGV, France's high speed rail network. Gulf Air has an extensive codeshare agreement with TGV providing seamless connections to key destinations across France.

About Gulf Air
Founded in 1950, Gulf Air is the proud national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Having been operating for over half a Century, it ranks as one of the oldest airlines in the Middle East region. Though it continually strives to develop; its goal has remained unchanged - to maintain a constant commitment to the latest aviation technology and an adherence to traditional Arabian hospitality. It is currently owned by Bahrain Mumtalakat Holdings Company.

One of the prime motives of the carrier is to link Bahrain to the GCC as well as connect it to the rest of the world. The airline's network stretches from Europe to Asia, connecting 43 cities in 28 countries, with a current fleet consisting of 36 aircraft. Renown for its direct network to its non-stop flights schedules, Gulf Air covers the Middle East, the Americas, Africa and Asia-Pacific.

The airline's business strategy is to re-fleet itself over the next five years to further strengthen its presence. It recently signed a deal with Boeing worth nearly $6bn to purchase up to 24 Boeing 787 aircraft, and another deal with Airbus for 35 aircraft, including A320s and A330s.

Gulf Air is the Official Airline and Sponsor of the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2009 and London based football club Queens Park Rangers.
