- PRESS RELEASE
The American University of Beirut (AUB) signed November 20 an agreement with Intel to join the Middle East Energy Efficiency Research Center (MER) for developing more energy efficient solutions.
The MER was established by Intel Corporation on November 9 in collaboration with the King Abdul-Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Under this agreement, AUB will work jointly with KACST and Intel to conduct the research.
The Arab world has a wealth of talented engineers and innovators and we are confident that this energy efficiency research center will enable bright minds to research and develop useful solutions for the region," says Rahal-Arabi, "Our collaboration with AUB is set to help the talent pool gain access to Intel's global knowledge and expertise."
This agreement will pave the way for the creation of a rich environment at AUB where researchers and scientists will carry out their energy research for better economic growth," said AUB Professor Hajj.
The first of its kind in the Middle East, MER is set to attract more universities from all over the region. It will also play a pivotal role in the region's efforts to promote more efficient use of energy in technology devices through conducting and sharing research with leading universities across the Middle East. The program consists of conducting research at the participating institutions in the Middle East and at Intel as well as exchanging researchers.
