Business leaders gathered to hear Dr Mathai discuss holistic medicine and the programs he runs at Soukya, his international holistic health centre set on a lush 15-hectare private estate near Bangalore, India.

Guy Guillemard, CEO of Signature Club International, has visited Soukya and described it as a life-changing experience and a place to which he hoped to return often.

"Soukya is not a spa. It is not a hospital. It is not a luxury hotel. It is all three and much more. It treats the mind, body and spirit - and it works."

Mr Guillemard said.

"First of all, in this crazy world, it is magical to stay entirely in one place - a 30-acre lush private estate and organic farm which is completely and deliberately designed to give you a break from the rest of the world. No cars, no TV, no newspapers, no advertising, no loud music, no alcohol, no smoking, no distractions. The only noises are birds, animals and the odd passing train.

"I hope to return to Soukya every year. It really can be a life changing experience."

Described as A Temple of Healing, Soukya it is designed to offer a complete break from the outside world and promote healing through different systems of medicine such as Ayurveda, homeopathy, naturopathy and a wide range of complementary therapies such as yoga and reflexology.

Dr Mathai hails from a family which has practiced homeopathy for the past 50 years and he has a rich experience of treating patients from over 36 countries. He studied Chinese Pulse Diagnosis and Acupuncture at the WHO Institute in Nanjing, China and underwent the Mind-Body Medicine training program offered by the Harvard Medical School in the US.

David Williamson, General Manager of Capital Club, said the informative session was well received by Members.

"Capital Club hosts regular and informative events, and the 'Afternoon with Dr Mathai' attracted plenty of interest from our Members, many of whom lead full and active lives and who appreciate the benefits of managing their health in a holistic manner."
