Keen to encourage the future generation of construction engineers, The Big 5 worked with LEGO and Year 2 children from Horizon School to build the 2m x 1.5m Big 5 logo from over 40,000 LEGO bricks. Reflecting the multi-national reach of The Big 5 show, Horizon children from a variety of nationalities from across the GCC and globally were involved in the 3-day build of The LEGO Big 5.

Set to take place from 23-26 November 2009 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, The Big 5 Exhibition will feature over 3,000 exhibitors, ranging from major global suppliers to regional agents and distributors, along with 52 National Pavilions from all major exporting countries.

Paula Al Chami, event director of The Big 5, organised by dmg world media, said,

"We loved the idea of bringing together tomorrow's construction engineers with today's construction industry and working with LEGO, as one of the world's leading manufacturers of building play materials, was the perfect way to do this. The children took on the job of constructing the LEGO Big 5 sculpture with great enthusiasm. I should like to thank LEGO for their support in this project in addition to the children at Horizon School for helping us build it! It looks fantastic and everyone should come and see it for themselves at Convention Gate!"

Anil Shahani, from Whitebird Trading LLC, the sole distributer of LEGO in the Middle East, added "This is the first time a project of this kind has been taken on by LEGO. The key for us is that children have fun whilst learning, and the idea of children constructing The Big 5 logo appealed to us, because of the importance of the construction industry in the UAE."
