BSEC MENA will cover the full spectrum of issues in the design, construction and management of schools, universities and colleges, and their location within sustainable communities.

Governments across the Middle East and North Africa region are investing extensively in education and the need for new schools, colleges and universities is globally recognised. Extensive investment is being directed from governments from the UAE, Bahrain and Jordan for new schools and investment in education, which is seen as a key component in the drive for nationalization of the work force in the GCC in particular. Saudi Arabia alone has allocated SR9 billion for a new general education development project.

BSEC has been running in the UK since 2004 and has established itself as a must-attend event. It has proved instrumental in terms of bringing together interested parties connected with school building from both the bidder and the client side, creating invaluable opportunities for sharing ideas and information. We see even greater opportunities for BSEC in the Middle Eastern region particularly here in the UAEกจ said Andrew Pert BSEC MENA event director.

For the first time BSEC MENA offers the UAE access to this unique forum. The exhibition encompasses two days of networking and a comprehensive conference programme covering the full spectrum of issues which has been developed in conjunction with industry experts to reflect the most important issues facing the education sector.

Each session has been carefully constructed to ensure that the entire programme reflects the needs of those within the industry. What is BSEC?

BSEC, is a two-day event that provides a unique forum for all those at the forefront of school rebuilding initiatives, from policy makers to suppliers.

Now in its fifth year BSEC has established itself as the must attend event in this sector. BSEC combines a high level conference with an inspirational exhibition whilst creating plenty of opportunities for networking and doing business. It aims to bring together all interested parties connected with school building from both the bidder and the client side, creating invaluable opportunities for sharing ideas and information.

BSEC, as the largest conference and exhibition in the UK concerned with the design, construction and management of schools, ensures that the transformation of education drives all education programmes, rather than simply the provision of new facilities.

BSEC engages with all the key stakeholders in education and creates a platform for Government to champion current and future funding programmes, whilst encouraging a network of best practice & innovation in delivering world class educational reform & facilities

BSEC IN THE UK - Where it Started

BSEC covers the Government's school building programmes - Building Schools for the Future, City Academies and the Primary Capital Programme - in addition to traditional PFI projects.

BSEC in the UK focuses on the construction, maintenance and design of all schools - new, refurbished and old.

Attracting over 5,000 policy makers, local authority officers, head teachers, school governors, ICT professionals, designers, contractors and suppliers across the private & public sector, from across the UK

BSEC has been instrumental in terms of school requirements, legislation, programmes and policy implementation, to design, construct and manage, the UK's existing and new schools programme, in a sustainable way.

BSEC is supported and attended by the Government departments in education, the ministers for education & schools, Department for Children, Schools & Families, and Partnerships for Schools (PFS), BECTA, and National College for School Leadership (NCSL), British Council for School Environments (BCSE) and the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE).

BSEC INTERNATIONALLY

Due to the success and impact that our Building Schools Exhibition & Conference (BSEC) has had in the UK, we have just launched BSEC Middle East & North Africa (BSEC MENA).

BSEC MENA takes place on the 13th & 14th December 2009, in Abu Dhabi, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company (ADNEC)

The key difference between BSEC UK and BSEC MENA, is that the content will cover all aspects of education reform and facilities from Schools (both state and private), Colleges, Universities and Research centres.

Governments across the Middle East and North Africa region are investing extensively in education. The need for new schools, colleges and universities is universally recognized. The Emirate of Abu Dhabi is developing comprehensive plans to develop public schools. The Emirate of Qatar announced last September that the Supreme Education Council (SEC) is to receive 19 new independent schools from the Public Works Authority (ASHGAL). The kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced on the 11th March 2009 that HRH King Abdullah has allocated SR9 billion for a new general education development project to be supported by Saudi and foreign experts. BSEC MENA offers UK companies the chance to win work in school building plans from governments including Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. For a detailed conference programme, see overleaf.
