Al Jazeera Children's Channel wins international awards

Al Jazeera Children's Channel (JCC) marked more success in the international TV industry closing the year 2009, winning international awards and recognitions in all of United Kingdom, India, and Egypt.

JCC's long format documentary film "Wailing Wall" won the Special Jury Award at the 11th Osian's Cinefan Awards 2009 on the 30th of October 2009 in New Delhi. Award winner "Wailing Wall" gives an insight on the odd life of children and adults living close to this dividing line in Palestine. Director Elias Bakkar expressed his delight for winning an award at the first international screening of his film produced during this year.

In London, JCC won the AIB Editor's Choice Award for innovative programming at the special Excellence Awards gala dinner organized by the Association of International Broadcasters (AIB). The award came to recognize JCC's exceptional and innovative content and contribution to the children of the Arab world, promoting education and creating a progressive mindset.

Premiering in children's drama, JCC's TV family series "Ana Wa Ekhwati" (Me and my siblings) bagged gold award for Best Picture and Sound in the TV drama category and won silver award for Best Children Drama at the 15th Cairo Arab Media Festival. The third season of "Ana Wa Ekhwati" is broadcasted as part of this year's special Ramadan offering with a remarkable picture. The series is the first Arabic drama rolled with "Red Cinema" camera.

• 'Aljazeera International Festival', Gold Award for Documentary Film by Arab TV Stations, went to "Pakistan 7.6" on March 30, 2006.

• '50th New York Festivals', Gold and Silver World Medals, for 'Al Sirdab Al Ajeeb' (Magic Cellar), exclusively broadcast on and distributed by JCC in Arabic.

• Syrian Commission for Family Affairs' Seminar "The effects of War on Arab families', Recognition Award, in July 2007.

• 13th Cairo Arab Media Festival, 'Best Children TV Program' Gold Award, for "Qal Al Rawi", in December 2007.

• 13th Cairo Arab Media Festival, "Creativity Prize" for "Best Director" came for JCC's drama TV series "Gala Gala", in December 2007.

• Cairo International Film Festival for Children, Gold Award, for the televised magazine "Tariq Al-Najah", in March 2008.

• Children and Family Prize for short feature film at the 4th Al Jazeera International Documentary Film Festival for "Pencils without lead", in öApril 2008.

• PROMAX/BDA Arabia, Best Holiday/Seasonal/Special Event Promo 2008 for the "Children of Iraq" movie promo produced in house by JCC Art and Promotion Department, in May 2008.

• 14th Cairo Arab Media Festival, Gold Award for Best Film and a reward sum of forty thousand Egyptian pounds for "My Simple Story" by Izidor Musallem, in November 2008.

• 14th Cairo Arab Media Festival, Two Gold Awards for Best Child Actors and a reward sum of ten thousand Egyptian pounds for each of the two main casts in "My Simple Story", in November 2008.

• 19th Cairo International Film Festival For Children, Ministry of Culture Gold Award for "Penalty" by Nouri Bouzid, in March 2009.

• 5th Al Jazeera Documentary Film Festival, best short documentary film to address the Palestinian cause for "Music Says", in April 2009.

• 11th Osian's Cinefan Special Jury Award for long documentary film "Wailing Wall" by Elias Bakkar, October 2009.

• Editors' Award for Innovative Programming to Al Jazeera Children's Channel, Association of International Broadcasters's Media Excellence Awards, October 2009.
