Abdullah Al Madani, CEO of Corporate Technical Support Services Sector, said:
"Metro and public transport users can apply for Nol Blue Card as of this week either online through Nol Card portal or ticket selling offices at the metro stations."

"This category of Nol Cards has been designed for commuters who frequently use public transport modes and need to recharge their balances continually with bigger amounts; in which case RTA ensures the security of their balances in case their cards are lost or damaged," he continued.

Al Madani further elaborated, "Nol Blue Card is a secure and personalized smart card with an e-purse enabling the user a top-up to 500 dirham. The card is valid for use on all integrated public transport modes in Dubai and can be recharged through any channel used for topping-up Nol cards (RTA Customer Service Centers, RTA approved sales agents, metro and bus stations, and tickets vending machines installed in various parts of the emirate)."

Mohammed Al Mudharreb, Acting Director of Unified Automated Fare Collection Dep't (UAFC), unveiled the procedures of obtaining Nol Cards which require completion of the application form at the Metro stations, presenting a personal photograph and an ID (passport or ID card). The application is then forwarded to UAFC Dep't for issuing the Blue Nol Card to beneficiaries. RTA will send an SMS / e-mail message containing the details of the application and reference number for the customer to follow-up the status of the application later on.

Upon approval, the applicant will receive an SMS containing the application number and date for coordinating receipt with the delivery company (Nol Blue Card will be dispatched through express mail companies). The Card is likely to be received within 10 - 15 days from the date of submitting the application and the applicant can also contact RTA Customer Service Center at 8009090 in case of a delay in delivering the card.

Nol Blue Card is a new addition to the other three categories of Nol cards issued by the RTA; namely: Nol Gold Card: A card with no specific identity of the holder and has the same features of Nol Silver Card, but enables the use of Metro Gold Class car against a premium, Nol Silver Card: A card with no specific identity of the holder and has an e-purse rechargeable, and Nol Red Ticket; which is a paper ticket that has no e-purse and valid for 10 trips.
