International performers arrive ahead of 2009 Etisalat-Sharjah Water Festival

The international acts that will be performing at the upcoming Etisalat-Sharjah Water Festival, which kicks off on Wednesday (2 December) on the shores of Sharjah's Khalid Lagoon and in the adjacent Al Majaz Park, have arrived in the UAE, the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) has confirmed.

The Festival, which will run from 2 December until 12 December, is the biggest family entertainment event in the region, and coincides with the F1 Powerboat World Championship - Sharjah Grand Prix, being hosted by the emirate for the tenth year, which will take place on 10th -11th December.

The international acts include the Italian orchestra I Cameristi Triestini, which will be performing one show only, on the opening night, the London-based Sesame Street Performance, and the Florida-based high dive team.

I Cameristi Triestini, founded by celebrated conductor Maestro Fabio Nossal, is a chamber orchestra of young musicians who have graduated from the Conservatory 'G. Tartini' in Trieste. The orchestra has performed successfully in Italy and abroad, and has also taken part in several and important radio and TV programmes. Acclaimed by audiences and critics alike, the orchestra has performed all over the world, including : Austria, Slovenia, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Belgium, France, Hungary, Spain, Luxemburg, Croatia, United States of America, Argentina , Denmark, Portugal, Cyprus, Singapore, Mexico, Vietnam, Poland, Turkey, Greece, Russian Federation, Egypt, Australia, China, Morocco, Brazil, Norway and Sweden.

The Sesame Street Performance features all of the favourite characters from the educational children's television series 'Sesame Street'. Entrance to the show, which will take place three times daily and kids can watch the characters dance and sing like never before to the tunes of Sesame Street, and will also have the opportunity to meet and greet their favourite stars in person.

A team of seven professional high divers from Florida will perform stunts in a gripping 30-minute daily show that will keep audiences enthralled. The incredible themed decorations and costumes completely transform high diving into a spectacular production, and fantastic diving stunts, aerial acrobatics, comedy and fire jumps, promise to make each show an event to remember.

Speaking of the exciting line-up of international talent, SCTDA Director General Mohamed A. Al Noman said:

The SCTDA has gone to great lengths to ensure that the entertainment is of exceptional quality, and we have brought in a number of international acts that will offer something for everyone - the Florida-based high dive team for those looking for breathtaking stunts, The Sesame Street Performance for our younger visitors, and the internationally acclaimed Italian orchestra I Cameristi Triestini, conducted by Maestro Fabio Nossal, who will be performing on the opening night. The performers have now all arrived in the UAE ahead of their participation in the Festival, and I think we are in for some incredible shows and performances."


The Etisalat-Sharjah Water Festival is a world-class event that offers a wide variety of entertainment activities for people of all ages and interests, including a daily Sesame Street Performance, acrobatic diving shows, children's entertainment shows at Mouj Land, carnival parades featuring clowns and stilt-walkers, circus shows, bands and much more, while also promoting Sharjah's culture and heritage. For those planning on spending the evening, the Night Souk offers visitors the chance to take a stroll through the market in search of bargains, or visit the international food court. The Festival starts on 2 December 2009 at 16:00, and will run until 12 December from 16:00 to 22:00 Saturday to Wednesday, and 16:00 to 24:00 on UAE National Day, Thursdays and Fridays.
