The D-Link Wireless N ADSL2+ Router (DSL-2740U) supports 802.11n technology to maximize high-speed wireless connections and provides fast, seamless performance. With speeds faster than 802.11g, the router is completely backward compatible with 802.11b/g wireless devices, and includes four Ethernet ports to connect Ethernet-enabled PCs, print servers, and other devices. Additional features include Wi-Fi protected setup (WPS), a wireless On/Off switch, IPSec VPN Pass-through, and advanced IGMP optimization for services like IPTV.
The ADSL router offers security features to prevent unauthorized access to the home or office network from wireless devices or from the Internet. It provides firewall security, such as Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) and hacker attack logging. SPI inspects the incoming packets before they are allowed in, while hacker attack logging helps protect the network from Denial of Service (DoS) attacks.
"The Wireless N ADSL Router is ideal for multiple users in the home or office who want to share an integrated high-speed interface for smooth and secure download and upload of photos, files, music, video and e-mail over the Internet. The automatic setup and connectivity capabilities built into Windows 7 will help users realize additional functionality out of their networks and devices"
said Harrison Albert, Regional Sales Director at D-Link Middle East.
The DSL-2740U employs D-Link Green technology for conserving energy in several ways, including the ability to automatically recognize port activity and cable length and adjust power usage accordingly. It can also consolidate all functions to a single device instead of many separate products.
The router offers updated ADSL2/2+ standards to provide Internet transmission of up to 24Mbps downstream and 1Mbps upstream. It supports WPA/WPA2 and WEP data encryption methods for flexible user access security.
Furthermore, the DSL-2740U supports a switchable Ethernet WAN. The user can assign one of the Ethernet ports as the WAN connection. This versatility allows the user to use the DSL-2740U as a wireless router while the Ethernet WAN port is connected to an external VDSL modem, cable modem, FTTB, etc.
As part of its Quality of Service (QoS), the DSL-2740U supports priority queues to enable a group of home or office users to experience the benefit of a smooth network connection without concerns about traffic congestion.
