The Egyptian and Tunisian Holly award-winning hotels were presented the coveted trophy yesterday in Cairo by Dr Volker Böttcher, Chief Executive of TUI Deutschland. The award testifies to the hotels' excellent quality and high level service.
Around 10,000 hoteliers fight it out every year for the honour of receiving a TUI Holly. Among the top 100 were also winners that won awards in various other categories. For instance the Club Magic Life Manar Imperial in the Tunisian town of Hammamet came out on top in the "Best Club" category. Winner of the best newcomer award was the Nile cruise ship JAZ Senator with the "Kleopatra" cruise.
Other categories are:
- Best TUI Hotel
- Best Non-flight Hotel
- Best Hotel Western Mediterranean
- Best Hotel Eastern Mediterranean
- Best Hotel in Long-haul Sector
- Environmental Champion
Grading of the hotels is made on the basis of a customer questionnaire with scores on a scale of one to five, from which an average is calculated for every hotel. The decisive factor for winning the hotel prize is the over-all grade which the hotel achieves. About 500,000 questionnaires com-pleted by TUI guests formed the basis for determining the winning hotels. For the first time the TUI Holly award ceremony will this year not be held centrally in Germany for all hotel partners, but instead on different dates in the various destinations of Antalya, Hanover, Madrid, Athens, Funchal and Cairo.

At least that is the result of the biggest customer survey performed in the tourism industry. The survey is carried out every year by Germany's leading tour operator TUI to find the most popular holiday hotels in the world.
