ExxonMobil demonstrates industry expertise at 2009 International Petroleum Technology Conference

ExxonMobil will demonstrate its expertise and commitment to developing breakthrough energy technologies at the 2009 International Petroleum Technology Conference December 7-9, 2009, at the Sheraton Doha Resort and Convention Hotel.

Rich Kruger, President of ExxonMobil Production Company, will speak at the conference executive plenary session on December 7.

Kruger will highlight the importance of commitment and endurance by industries, governments and people from all over the world in meeting the world's growing energy needs - the central theme of this year's conference.

ExxonMobil scientists and engineers will co-chair 7 technical sessions and present 37 papers and 20 posters on petroleum technologies that help meet world energy challenges.

ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company Engineering Vice President Marco Rasi will address "Environmental Solutions and Sustainability" on a December 7 panel.

Tom Walters, President of ExxonMobil Gas and Power Marketing Company, will speak during the December 8 panel session on "Global Gas Outlook." Walters will provide insights into the anticipated 50% increase in demand for natural gas and the challenge to deliver massive energy projects, particularly those relating to LNG projects.

ExxonMobil's exhibit in the convention hall will showcase its expertise in hydrocarbon exploration; drilling; well completion; enhanced and improved oil recovery; large-scale heavy oil production; production, liquefaction and shipment of natural gas; and management of carbon dioxide.

An ExxonMobil environmental exhibit will feature the importance of accelerating gains in energy efficiency, expanding all commercially viable energy sources, and developing and deploying technology to help mitigate the growth of emissions associated with energy use.

The company is also a sponsor of the IPTC Education Week program for select top students in engineering, geoscience and science degree programs from 37 countries and 58 institutions.

In 2009, ExxonMobil inaugurated ExxonMobil Research Qatar as an anchor tenant at the Qatar Science & Technology Park in Education City, Qatar, conducting research in areas of common interest to the State of Qatar and ExxonMobil including environmental management and LNG safety.
