Chinese Trade Fair set to showcase high-tech products

The Chinese Commodities Fair Sharjah will feature two key innovations from the land of the dragon - a wing ship and a multipurpose off-road vehicle nicknamed 'Hummer'.

This was announced at a press conference held ahead of the eighth edition of the Chinese Commodities Fair Sharjah, which will run from December 13 to 16 at Expo Centre Sharjah.

The press conference was attended by Mr. Gao Youzhen, Consul-General, Consulate-General of China in Dubai, Mr. Xie Qinsheng, Economic and Commercial Counselor, Consulate-General of China in Dubai, Mr Patrick Zheng Shuo, General Manager, China Machinery & Electronic Products Exhibition Centre (Chinamex), Mr. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, Director-General, Expo Centre Sharjah, Mr. Yu Tao, Chairman, Chinese Business Council in UAE/Managing Director, China State Construction Engineering Corporation (Middle East), and Mr. Wan Changqing, Executive Vice-Chairman, Chinese Business Council in UAE/Director, METCO-Middle East-China Eng. & Trdg. Co.

The Yin He Long Wing Ship is a kind of ship working with wings (wing-in-ground effect), which has seakeeping qualities as well as airworthiness. It combines the characteristics of an aircraft and a boat and has unique commercial and military values.

Off-road vehicle Xiao Long - 'Hummer made in China' - is equipped with wheel-side slowdown and portal bridge technology, and has a constant minimum ground clearance of 440mm, which is the highest ground clearance available in the world right now.

Xiao Long can function in all climate conditions and heights, and displays high performance in the fields of oil, water resources, geological prospecting, forest fire prevention, field data collection, highway, railway maintenance, telecommunications, construction and rescue works.

"China is now a leading name in the world of technological innovations and the Chinese Commodities Fair Sharjah is going to be a showcase of the country's ingenuity and craftsmanship,"

said Mr Saif Mohammed Al Midfa.

"The country is now a name to reckon with in the field of quality high-tech products and services. CCFS will be an opportunity for trade and general visitors to see first-hand these innovations and benefit from their attractive prices," Mr Midfa said.

CCFS will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.

"Affordability is the name of the game when it comes to Chinese products and the latest edition of CCFS is going to be a key sourcing event for the region's industries," added Mr Midfa.

This year the show will focus on food and edible oil, light commercial vehicles and parts, electronics and IT products and lighting and décor products. For the upcoming edition, the Chinese Commodities Fair Sharjah will feature nearly 400 companies from 28 Chinese provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in about 500 stalls.

"The wing ship and the off-road vehicle described here are just two of the innovations. You can expect to see many more such products at the show. Besides, there will be many well known and large Chinese companies are taking part in show," said Mr Shuo.

"They include Nanjing YinHe Long Wing Ship Incorporation, Wuhan Xiaolong Auto-Tech Co., ChongQing TieMa Industries Corporation, Xinjiang Tianshan Elevator Manufacturing Co., and Zhumadian Cimc Huajun Vehicle. There will also be abundant local products and materials being displayed. Many electronic products manufacturers and traders will present their high-quality products," added Mr Shuo.

The show will display vehicles & parts, hardware & tools, machine tools & parts, household electrical appliances, electronic products, foodstuff, medicines & health products, garments, household textile, commodities, kitchen utensils, lights & decoration products, building materials decoration materials and household furniture.

CCFS will be open to traders from 10am to 1pm daily, while the general visiting hours will be from 5pm to 9pm. The show is being jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, and the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and organised by Chinamex and Expo Centre Sharjah.
