Acer Computer drives demand for increasingly advanced IT applications and services
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, April 22 - 2003 at 10:05
- PRESS RELEASE
Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd announced today its revenue in the Middle East for Q1 has grown by 150 per cent over last year's results.
Acer's impressive increase in revenue growth for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) is attributed to a host of new innovative developments including an effective channel strategy and an extended product range. Acer's restructuring - to incorporate MENA operations under Europe - streamlined processes and promoted best practices that helped provide a solid base for growth.
By focusing resources on its channel strategy, the Acer Channel Program offers three different levels of partnership depending on mutual commitment. Acer's sales were also boosted by the launch of groundbreaking products in the Middle such as the award winning range of TravelMate notebooks and the Aspire range of desktop PCs.
"By providing leading-edge technologies, along with solid services and solutions support, Acer has positioned itself at the forefront of the region's IT development," said Krishna Murthy, General Manager, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd.
"Despite the global softening in IT demand, this region is moving very quickly with the adoption of advanced IT applications and services across all its industrial sectors, from government ministries to educational organizations to private sector enterprises," Murthy added.
Revenue Growth in the Region
Across the region, Acer's notebook PCs experienced the greatest growth in sales ahead of other products. The sales of notebook PCs increased by a remarkable 200 per cent in contrast to the same time last year.
"Demand for notebooks has exploded in recent months because of increased multi-media functionality and the convenience of an all-in-one design. Acer has been able to forge ahead with sales with this range of products because we have taken the lead in bridging the gap between conventional PCs and notebook computers," said Murthy.
During Q1, the sale of Acer servers escalated by 135 per cent over last year's results. By offering reliable, expandable and easy-to-use servers, Acer has been able to firmly establish itself in the rapidly growing mid-market sector.
Acer also experienced a 160 per cent boost in the sale of its Business PCs during Q1. The huge leap in sales was driven by companies in the Middle East looking to update their internal infrastructure, take advantage of a wider range of features, and make the most of attractive pricing.
More Growth for the Future
Acer aims to maintain its growth in the region for the rest of the year by focusing on enhancing the products it offers consumers, following best practice models, and providing the most up-to-date training.
Industry analysts have noted Acer's dynamic recent performance and aggressive marketing strategy, and tipped the company as one to watch this year. "This region is dynamic and strong and we are proud to be growing at such an aggressive pace. As well as investing heavily in regional training programs, we also recently opened our first call centre in the Middle East at Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai," said Murthy.
