Dubai Taxi serves 51 million passengers in 28 million trips during 10 months

Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) at Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has made 28,055,556 trips during which 51,583,266 passengers were served over the first ten months of this year, in addition to serving 60 events and exhibitions.

The above statement was made by Yousef Mohammed Al Ali, Director of Fleet Operations Dep't at Dubai Taxi Corporation, who narrated the statistics of Fleet Operations Dep't; which also ensures the daily readiness of affiliated sections to cope with the requirements at all times including repairing, maintaining and cleaning of as much as 3504 affiliated vehicles.

"DTC workshop has been equipped to boost the technical efficiency of the workshop, and this included the deployment of suitable manpower to cope with the required assignments, and renovation of the fleet through adopting replacement policy and standards where 604 taxicabs have been replaced in the first nine months of this year. Accordingly the capacity of the workshop rose to 4500 vehicles per month covering all fields including minor and medium repairs, preventative maintenance, and remedial maintenance of more than 40,500 vehicles over the first nine months of this year" said Al Ali.

The operational capacity of the workshop is as high as 90%; where 145 administrative and technical employees specialized in auto mechanics are deployed on shift basis. The workshop has 54 maintenance bays fitted with the latest vehicle maintenance and modern vehicle repair equipment.

Al Ali continued: "Coordination is in hand between the workshop and the washing station; which is operating at a rate to perform 1500 vehicles body washing, and 30 vehicles internal washing every day. June and July are the busiest months in the workshop. Statistics point out to a 33% drop in the faults reported in vehicles under protective and remedial maintenance compared to last year. The rate of preventive maintenance out of the remedial maintenance is 75%, while the deployment of taxicabs in districts and markets reached 90%.

"The Dep't has also made several achievements, and provided services and facilities to customers in the past period. Black colour number plates have been replaced with new yellow colour plates in all fleet totaling 3504 vehicles. Taxicabs dedicated to special needs persons have been made available 24 hours a day, and the 350 Airport cabs have been fitted with safe children seats in order to boost safety levels. Deodorants have been installed in the cabin of taxicabs in an effort to uplift customer satisfaction and improve customer rating of Airport taxi service to 95%" added Al Ali.

The Dep't has rolled out many initiatives including the deployment of ladies taxicabs, special needs taxicabs and hybrid environment-friendly taxicabs. It also offered 6 and 12 hour rental of taxicabs service, introduced voice reminder service alerting and reminding passengers not to forget their personal belongings inside the vehicle, printing bills on board service, and fitting vehicles with the electronic tracking system among others.

DTC Fleet Operations Dep't applies expenditure cuts programs in maintenance and repair of vehicles through introducing means to reuse repairable spare parts, and prompt employees to use security and safety means. The Dep't is always seeking to offer initiatives to motivate employees such as the ideal employee (administrative, technical or field), and encouraging employees to express their views through the suggestions boxes in an effort to and make them competitive and creative.
