The program, incorporating ACCPAC Advantage Series accounting software, helps build the students' knowledge and expertise in applied technologies focused on accounting and finance. Dr Yahya Haddad, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at the University, comments: 'Ajman University has a firm commitment to providing technology-based education. We believe this is a strategic approach towards building the knowledge skills necessary to meet today's business and management challenges.'
The program will be rolled out simultaneously throughout all of the University's campuses in Ajman, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, UAE. 'Over 500 students will be trained on the ACCPAC Advantage Series-based program this year,' says Dr Lilyan Gheyath, Professor of Accounting at Ajman University. She explains that accounting students will be practicing accounting principles learned from books using the software programs. 'With ACCPAC, we have tremendous flexibility in education. It starts with live business illustrations and extends to home work assignments, the ability to revisit concepts and implementations when necessary and finally, testing students' understanding of concepts using practical, real-life scenarios.' She continues, 'By training our students on ACCPAC Advantage Series, we are guaranteeing them career prospects in accounting and qualifying them for the increasingly competitive labour market locally and abroad.'
According to Marc Van Der Ven, general manager for ACCPAC Middle East, ACCPAC Advantage Series is an internationally available accounting package that is extremely user-friendly, making it ideal for educational purposes and establishing it as the standard software for teaching accounting in many educational institutions around the world. 'ACCPAC is committed to providing educational institutions with business management software that gives students the practical skills they need to enter a career in accounting. For the accounting students at Ajman University, learning on ACCPAC Advantage Series will give them crucial knowledge as they work to become professional accountants.'
Dr. Haddad concludes, 'We have many other planned educational programs that build onto ACCPAC business management systems and touch other aspects of a typical business. We will be introducing these in the near future.'
