The Industrial Excellence Award, instituted by the French management school INSEAD and the German business school WHU (Graduate School of Management), assesses process quality, innovation management and strategy implementation. Key criteria are attributed to the ability to adapt quickly and flexibly to constantly changing market conditions.

"FSC's Augsburg factory ranks among the most advanced in the world, combining the best of technology from Fujitsu and manufacturing from Siemens with modern business strategies focusing on optimising processes along the entire value creation and supply chain," said Peter Eber, Executive Vice President, Volume Products and Supply Chain Operations, FSC. "The panel deciding the award singled out the factory's advanced supply chain management which provides high levels of volume and product flexibility, placing the focus on asset management."

Eber, who has recently visited FSC's regional offices at the Dubai Internet City, added: "The Industrial Excellence Award has a major significance for our global customers due to the high quality products produced at the Augsburg factory are shipped to all dealers around the world. We are pleased to say that these same products are available to our valued customers in the Middle East. The advanced supply chain management at Augsburg ensures that the lead time between placing of the order and shipment of the product is reduced substantially."

FSC's computer factory at Augsburg produces commercial PCs, Intel-based Primergy servers and notebooks, as well as keyboards and system boards. It employs around 1,000 people, and has a capacity of producing 10,000 PC units per day. The plant has a high level of automation and flexibility in terms of research and development, production and logistics.
